Commendations

Over the years Dick touched so many lives and below are some of them.

It will be quite difficult for Nigeria to find someone else like Dick Kramer. I refer to individuals like him as 'Missionary Managers' - expatriates who align themselves to the aspirations of the citizens of their host countries. Burdened by the desire to see Nigeria become the great country it is capable of becoming, Dick got his hands dirty and tried to change the country. He has shown us that what we need to fix our country are people of character, competence, knowledge and passion. I am proud to have had him as a friend and associate for many years.

Ernest Shonekan, GCFR

Former President of Nigeria.
Chinyere and I have had a relationship of 35 years with Dick and Wanda, which has grown into a valued friendship and partnership. It has been a privilege to be part of the contribution they have made to those whose life they touched and our beloved Nigeria.

Pascal Dozie, CON

Chairman, MTN Nigeria Limited.
He came riding from a distant land to live and toil with us, made us believe and took our country to a better place. Dick is a jolly good fellow and his legacy will long endure.

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen

OON Founder, Alpine Investment Services.
Dick is an exemplary business missionary and indefatigable nation builder. He has done more than any other person I know to develop world-class Nigerian business professionals. I predict that the institutions Dick founded and nurtured would go on to play a major role in Nigeria's emergence as a global force.

Okey Enelamah

Founder & CEO, Africa Capital Alliance.

When I think back of people who have made positive and significant impact on my life, Dick would definitely be in the tiny but select group.

I met Dick in the early 80s when he was the president of the Harvard Alumni Association of Nigeria as well as the Managing Partner of Arthur Anderson. That was how this long and rewarding relationship started. It has been an honour and a privilege to having had the opportunity to work with Dick in a number of organizations such as the HBSAN, The Nigerian Economic Summit, Vision 2010, The Lagos Business School, etc. Working with Dick on any issue implied a tacit willingness that you would deliver to the expectation he had of you. It was also extremely rewarding to see how his tenacious and unflinching effort produced good results. Very few people know how instrumental Dick has been over the years in shaping the national economy of Nigeria, including the introduction of some of the important reforms that we take for granted.

Like many others, I consider Dick as a great leader, mentor, brother and most importantly a friend.

His Intellectual capacity to assimilate and share is unparalleled with anyone else that I have met. He is a builder and a true leader, always giving credits to others.

I have also had the great pleasure of knowing Wanda, all the way back from the Wanda was at the American International School, keeping an eye on the students including our children. Our friendship grew over the years , and we have always looked upon Wanda and Dick as we would look and feel towards any of our family members. There can be no doubt of the pivotal role that Wanda played in supporting Dick over the years and continues to do so.

God bless you both and may you continue tolive a rewarding and fulfilled life that has impacted countless people.

Omobola Johnson

Wanda Kramer is a lady of quiet dignity and immense substance. The cultural foundation and success of Arthur Andersen in Nigeria rested on her sacrifice and understanding.
A rare lady like Wanda is a necessary condition for producing an outstanding leader (Dick Kramer), whose contributions to and passion for his adopted homeland (Nigeria) is unparalleled.
Dick, your best investment was when you locked eyes with that lovely lady in high school in Hugoton, Kansas and made the fateful decision - This is my future.
Wanda Kramer, I truly admire you!

Seyi Bickersteth

I believe we will surmount our challenges and attain the Nigeria of our dream – of Dick Kramer’s Dream. Dick once said that, ‘’Nigeria is like a super tanker, it would require a huge effort to turn it around, but once it begins to turn there is no stopping it!’’

Mansur Ahmed

Corporate Communications, Dangote Industries Ltd.
I once told Dick he should have been born a Nigerian. He is very committed to our country. Dick is truly an exceptional man.

Joseph Sanusi

No foreign national in post –independence Nigeria has influenced economic policy formulation and enduring economic policy formulation and enduring economic reforms in the critical areas , albeit in a catalytic manner, than Dick Kramer.

Kunle Olumide

Dick was a role model because he ran a meritocracy in his accounting firm and he always found time to initiate change by leaning on policy makers.

Atedo Peterside

CON Founder & Chairman, StanbicIBTC Bank Plc
I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Dick when he was still at Arthur Andersen, and I first met him in 1997 or 1998, when Capital Alliance became a client of our firm, Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie. There will be other tributes that speak to Dick’s integrity, honesty, intelligence, humility and simplicity so I will not repeat what others have said, save to say that I endorse those views wholeheartedly! What I will say is that as Dick turns 80, as I approach the end of my (first , or more accurately second!) career in a professional services firm, I look to Dick as inspiration for my determination to remain involved by, like Dick has done , staying active in the business community and helping to mentor the next generation of young business people , lawyers and other professionals.

Dan Agbor

Managing Partner of Udo Udoma & Bello-Osagie
I will always remember Dick as a builder of men, a model of balanced family life and an unrepentant optimist with incredibly deep insights into life.
